What Does a Waste Receiving Site Need from a Tipper Driver?
In short: The driver should arrive with a clear movement, not be expected to invent compliance information at the gate. The receiving site needs the correct information for the load it receives, including applicable movement, carrier, receiver and waste-classification data. The exact legal data depends on the waste and movement.
The driver should not classify the waste at the gate
Waste classification and regulatory decisions belong with the appropriate competent parties and process. The driver needs the job information supplied for the movement and a practical way to record what happens during the job.
What should already be connected to the job?
At operational level, the office should aim to have the correct customer or job, collection point, intended receiving site, material information supplied for the movement, carrier and vehicle connected before the load arrives.
What can change during the movement?
Construction jobs change. A destination can change, a site can refuse or redirect a load, or the driver may need clarification. The completed movement record should reflect what actually happened rather than preserving only the original plan.
What does the receiving site have to do?
From 1 October 2026 in England and Wales, permitted or licensed sites receiving controlled waste must report applicable receipts through the Government service. Current guidance says submissions are normally required within two working days starting on the day after receipt.
What does the driver do in Tipper360?
Depending on the configured workflow, the driver can receive a job from the office or self-start an authorised job, work through the required movement steps and complete the record. Live chat lets the driver and office deal with changes around the active job, and offline working supports sites with poor coverage.
What does the office get?
The office gets the completed operational record rather than waiting for the driver to bring back the only copy of the information. Supporting photos, notes, signatures or other evidence used on the configured job can stay associated with that movement.
Keep the roles clear
Tipper360 is not the Government Digital Waste Tracking service, and the driver app does not decide legal waste classification. The aim is to make the physical movement easier to run and evidence while the responsible organisations meet their own regulatory duties.
