If you have tried an app in your tipper business before and ended up going back to paper, it is reasonable to be cautious about trying another one.

Moyglare had already tried another system

Suzie Norris says Moyglare Sand & Gravel had trialled another system before Hub360 and believed it would not have worked with their drivers. The eventual move was still a major change after 24 years of manual working.

Christy O'Neill says long-serving drivers initially struggled with the change. Brendan Norris, a Moyglare driver, says that after having the tablet and app for a day the process was straightforward. Christy says those drivers later would not want to go back to dockets.

Tipper work is different

A general delivery app may be fine for straightforward parcel work. Tipper, aggregate, muck-away and ready-mix operations can involve repeated loads, changing destinations, poor signal and job-specific information.

Keep it simple for the driver

The driver should see exactly what is needed for the job: where to go, what to collect or deliver and what has to be recorded. Information can be prefilled and selected from simple dropdowns so there is less typing.

Poor signal should not stop the job

Tipper360 works offline. The driver can continue recording the job and the information synchronises when coverage returns.

The office gets the completed information

The driver uses the app while the office sees the job information and completed record through its own system. Live chat and job changes can also reduce separate phone calls during the day.

Do not change everything at once

A sensible rollout can start with one part of the operation and a small number of normal jobs. The aim is to confirm that drivers find the process clear and that the office receives useful information.

Judge it on your own operation

No app can guarantee adoption simply because another fleet uses it. The broader Hub360 driver-app platform has been shaped through driver use since 2015, but the best test is still your own jobs and your own drivers.
