What Is Digital Proof of Delivery (POD) for Tipper Work?
Digital proof of delivery (POD) is an electronic record showing the information captured for a completed delivery. In tipper and construction-material work, it can replace the need to wait for a paper docket to return before the office can see the completed job information.
What is the difference between a digital POD and a paper docket?
A paper docket travels physically with the work and normally has to reach the office before somebody there can use it. A digital POD is created through the job workflow and becomes available to the office after the completed information synchronises.
The important difference is availability and retrieval—not simply replacing paper with a screen.
How is a digital POD created?
The driver works through the steps required for the job. With Tipper360, an authorised driver can self-start an appropriate job or receive one from the office. Depending on the workflow, the record can include job and material information plus supporting items such as photographs, notes or sign-off.
The app can continue working offline and synchronise when mobile coverage returns.
What happens when the job is complete?
The completed information becomes available to the office rather than relying on the physical docket coming back in the cab. The office can then retrieve the record for operational questions, customer requests or accounts work.
Does a digital POD prove everything about a delivery?
No. A POD records the information and evidence captured for the movement. It does not automatically establish legal compliance, contractual entitlement, customer acceptance or the truth of every disputed fact.
What should a good digital POD actually show?
That depends on the job. For the detailed field-by-field checklist—including customer/job, material, quantity or weight, locations, times, vehicle, driver and supporting evidence—see What Should a Digital POD Show?
What if you need to find the record later?
The longer-term value is retrieval. See What Can the Office Retrieve from a Digital Delivery Record?
