This is about the operational movement record

C&D work can involve waste, reusable material, aggregates and other movements with different legal and contractual requirements. This article is not a classification guide. Its purpose is the operational record that helps the office understand what actually happened.

Start with the job

The movement should be associated with the correct customer, project or job reference. That gives the office a consistent point around which to organise the rest of the information.

Identify the vehicle and driver

The completed record should make it clear which vehicle and driver carried the movement. Subcontractor movements should not become an information blind spot simply because the truck is not part of the operator's own fleet.

Record the material as instructed

The driver should work from the material information supplied through the appropriate process rather than make legal classification decisions in the app. Waste classification, by-product status, end-of-waste decisions and similar responsibilities remain with the appropriate competent parties.

Keep origin and destination with the movement

Construction work changes. A load can be redirected or the destination can change. The completed record should reflect the movement that actually occurred rather than only the original plan.

Keep supporting evidence attached

Depending on the job, useful supporting information can include timestamps, photographs, signatures, notes, weighbridge or ticket references and other delivery evidence.

The value comes from keeping those items associated with the correct movement so the office does not have to reconstruct the job later.

Test an awkward movement
